Fishery and Shrimp – Breeding
In this field Zeolite is used to control the absorbtion of ammonium ions in order to preserve the water quality. Water pollution usually happens because of food remains, root or dead shrimps decaying at the bottom of the pond.
Especially with shrimps, the water and the soil at the bottom of the pond has to be well kept from contamination, because shrimps tend to live and look for food at the bottom of the pond. If the bottom of the pond is contaminated by an amount of ammonium and other uncontrolled nutrient, the shrimps will loose their appetite with result a loss in growth.
Other benefits of Zeolite
- Stimulating the growth of plankton, functioning as a natural food for fish or shrimps.
- Increasing the quality of water with results a bigger appetite which means a faster growth and harvesting.
Dose and the method used
- Shrimp breeding : 0.2 – 0.25 kg/m2 per breeding season, evenly distributed at the bottom of the pond
- Shrimp hatchery : 2 – 3 kg/m2/month, evenly distributed at the bottom of the pond
- As food addition : Addition Zeolite to an amount of 2% of the food
