Environmental Management
In the management of the environment Zeolite can be used to control industrial waste, drink water purification, to eliminate water harshness, smell and colour.
Research by the PPTM at Bandung shows as result that Zeolite can decrease the quantity of heavy metals and other matters in waste water and well-water.
Other research carried out with waste water from several textile factories in Bandung and Jakarta, included waste water coming from the Cikotok Gold Mines shows that :
- Waste water from Warung Muncang, originally black and turbid became clear with a decrease in water harshness of 85% and in the contains of Zn 7%, Fe 8%, Mn 51% and Al 81%.
- After treatment with Zeolite, the colour of waste water from Gedebage did not change much, but there was a decrease in the PH, and in the Chlor, sufate, Amonium, Nitrate Nitrite andPhosphate contains. There was Mn 29% ; Pb 42% ; Cu 88% ; and Fe 95%.
- After processing, waste water from JL. Moch Toha innitially black and turbid became rather clear and there was a decrease in the PH, the contains of Chlor, Ammonium, Nitrate, Nitrite, Phosphate and also in the contain of heave metals : Cu 80% and Fe 87%
- Waste water from Patal Senayan became after treatment with Zeolite from Bayah lowered the water harshness and also al decrease in the PH and in the contains of Chlor, Ammonium, Nitrate and Nitrite and also in the contains of heavy metals Pb 30%, Cu 52% and Ca 77%
- After processing with Zeolite, waste water from the Cikotok gold mines decreased in the containsof the heavy metals : Ag 85%, Zn 97% and Fe 98%
Other benefits of Zeolite
- Able to neutralized soil PH
- Holds water penetrated, store and release accounting to the plants need.
- According to experiments, Zeolite gives good results with rops as rice, soy bean, corn, nightshade, and carrots the increase in growth is more than 15% compared with the usual condition of farming.
